Slingco to showcase CableNet at PLASA

Rigging solutions company Slingco will be showcasing a range of its products at PLASA next month, as well as introducing a new Point Hoist.

The company's CableNet tension wire grid system continues to be a favourite amongst technical staff for working at height in all types of venues and spaces, a recent installation being a completely circular grid for the newly re-opened Roundhouse in north London.

The system is created by weaving and tensioning high tensile steel cable within a frame, which is then hoisted to the required level in a theatre or concert hall to create a safe 'virtual floor'®.

Slingco is also the UK representative for US manufacturer Hoffend's Vortek rigging system and recently launched the new Vortek® Point Hoist module in the UK.

The Vortek Point is lightweight, self contained, portable and rugged, and ideal for many theatrical and entertainment type applications.

Features include a speed and lifting capacity of 0-180 ft/min at up to 1200lbs of lifting capacity or 0-90 ft/min at up to 1400lbs of lifting capacity, with additional load/speed combinations available.

A standard travel distance (for vertical and horizontal mounts) of 65 and 100ft is available, and the wire rope is available in both 3/16in (5 mm) & 1/4in (6 mm) gauges.

Slingco's Unibar winch system will also be on show. Allowing for the quick and easy raising/lowering of suspension or battens for scenery and lighting equipment with a motor-driven unit, it is designed for installing onto structures including universal beams, trussing, channels, and barrels.

Initially available in 250 or 400kg models with single- or two-speed options, the entire Unibar unit is self-contained, with the motor unit positioned on the end of the track.
